Internationalization of RAE-Revista de Administração de Empresas

Since 2010, RAE-Revista de Administração de Empresas, has been investing in the internationalization process and it includes: call for papers and participation of foreign researchers in its editorial committee. The renewal of the scientific editorial staff in 2014 raised the share of foreigners editors from 10% to 21%, as presented in the Figure 1. Likewise, since 2010, seven international calls for papers were arranged. The result was an increase from 3% to 25% in the international submissions between 2010 and 2013, with expectations of further growth in 2014.

The result of this effort can be observed in the increase of articles publication of authors from foreign institutions (Figure 2).

Thereafter, the number of articles published in other languages than Portuguese is growing. In 2014, almost half (49%) of RAE articles were published in English (33%) or Spanish (16%), as shown in Figure 3. Adopting ScholarOne, international standard editorial flow management system, implemented on May 1^st, 2014, in a partnership with SciELO, is also part of RAE internationalization project.

In the last issue of 2014, RAE publishes the article by Professor Jean-François Chanlat “Language and thinking in the field of research in Management: findings and questions for non-English speakers researchers” and have also published articles about PME in Argentine, turnover in Colombian cooperatives, quality factors in Spanish Tourism Companies, decision-making in sports organization, cross-borders fusions and acquisitions, and centralization of procedures in a large-size hospital. We have also published two articles submitted in the last year Latin American Retail Conference (CLAV/FGV-EAESP-2013), one about environmental responsibility in retail banking and the other discussing the distribution effect about the market share on the beverage industry.

To highlight in 2014, the most proportionally accessed article of the year was “Fragmentation of scientific knowledge in administration: a critical analysis” by Siegler & Fernandes, published in May/June (RAE-Revista de Administração de Empresas, 54(3), 254-267).
